Deciem The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA: Review

8:29:00 PM

Time for another Deciem The Ordinary review. There are so many products in this line with new ones getting added all the time it makes it hard to get through all of them. The Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA is a concentrated serum with purified alpha arbutin and hyaluronic acid. Details per The Ordinary:

Alpha Arbutin reduces the looks of spots and hyper-pigmentation. It's used at a high 2% concentration versus a standard concentration of 1% and supported with a next-generation form of Hyaluronic Acid for enhanced delivery. Alpha Arbutin is much stronger in effect than Arbutin or Beta Arbutin.

Note: Alpha Arbutin is extremely sensitive to degradation in the presence of water if the pH of the formulation is not ideal. The pH of this formula is approximately 4.9 which is shown to be the most suitable pH to minimize degradation of Alpha Arbutin.

Directions Apply a few drops to face in the AM and PM as part of your skincare regimen. Use sun protection in the AM.

This has the same thicker clear liquid gel texture that the HA 2% serum does. It has no real discernible scent either. It was non irritating to apply and I experienced no adverse side effects while using this product. Like the HA 2% I do find this harder to layer as it's thicker and more hydrating. It depends what you want to layer this with. It doesn't play nice with everything.

Same typical The Ordinary glass dropper style packaging. Not my favorite style as I much prefer a pump. Unfortunately this product did nothing for me beyond the hydration. I used it twice a day and just didn't notice anything as far as brightening goes. It will give you a nice hydrating boost and for $8.90 it's still not the end of the world if you try it and it doesn't work for you. I tend to prefer some other hydrating serums to their HA 2% such as the NIOD MMHC.
