OSKIA Renaissance Mask: Review

8:07:00 PM

I never really did a full review of this mask by itself. It needs one. I came across the OSKIA Renaissance Mask while browsing one day on Cult Beauty. Details per OSKIA:

A NUTRI-ACTIVE RADIANCE, BRIGHTENING & RESURFACING MASK
With MSM, Passion Fruit, Grape, Lemon & Grapefruit AHA's, Papaya Enzymes, Swiss Garden Cress Liposomes, Prebiotics, Ribose & Butterbur.

For immediate spa facial results and long term anti-ageing & brightening. Designed to increase cell turnover, boost radiance and packed with OSKIA’s trademark blend of beauty-boosting nutrients, this luxuriously-textured exfoliating mask leaves the complexion smoother, more refined and illuminated. Our testing panel thought its natural perfume so delicious they wanted to eat it!

Suitable for all skin types and with a fresh aromatic scent combining rose, passion fruit and chamomile, all organically certified, OSKIA’s Renaissance Mask works hard to remove tired skin cells and boost cell regeneration and ATP energy without aggressively stripping the top layers of the epidermis. Pink initially, the luxurious and uniquely textured cream turns white once properly massaged into the skin, helping clients know when it’s been applied effectively.

Key Actives

  • Natural Fruit Acids (AHA’s), including passion fruit, lemon, grape and pineapple fruit acids exfoliate by gently unbinding cells in the top layer of the skin to activate renewal. Enzymes from papaya remove excess and tired skin, cleansing thoroughly and clearing congested pores.
  • Lactic Acid reduces the appearance of fine lines by increasing cell turnover while softening skin.
  • Ribose increases cell respiration and reloads the skin with new energy by stimulating ATP (cell energy) levels to revitalise and illuminate. The natural anti-histamine Butterbur soothes irritation and aids healing.
  • Swiss Garden Cress Liposomes leave the complexion balanced, even and bright by reducing melanin production by 47%.
  • Prebiotic Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide prevents bacteria colonisation and keeps skin healthy.
  • OSKIA's trademark nutritional approach additionally boosts skin health and cellular efficiency by delivering nutrients including vitamins and minerals such as the key ingredient MSM to leave skin healthier, smoother, working harder and better equipped to maintain a radiant and youthful appearance.

Direction for Use

This mask has a unique and luxurious texture. It's a lovely pink colour initially, but turns white once massaged into the skin, helping you know when it’s been applied effectively. It has the most delicious, fresh, natural perfume of rose, passion fruit and chamomile, all organically certified. Our testers thought it was so good that they wanted to eat it.
Apply to dry cleansed skin and leave for 10-20 minutes, depending on skin type. Massage into skin for a few seconds to activate the ingredients (it will turn white). Sensitive skins should start at 10 minutes. Just before washing off, splash a little water and massage again. This allows the mask to turn into a milk activating the second phase. Rinse off with warm water.

That was a lot of details. One of the things I love about OSKIA's site is they have tons of helpful information about their products. OSKIA considers themselves a clinical nutritional skincare brand. This mask has won tons of awards. Rightfully so. It uses lactic acid and other fruit extracts to exfoliate the skin. It has this unique and really fun texture. When rubbed into dry skin this Vaseline textured mask turns into a more whipped texture. The color changes from a peachy pink to white. It has a light citrus floral scent, nothing overpowering. You leave it on for 20 minutes then wash off. I prefer to use an Eve Lom muslin cloth to remove mine.

This mask gives a moderate exfoliation with no irritation. The best part is the hydration, this never dries out and is actually hydrating at the same time as being exfoliating. Lactic acid is gentler than glycolic acid so it should work for a variety of skin types, even the more sensitive. What I love about this mask is that it makes my skin feel soft as a baby's butt after using. It makes me want to keep rubbing my face after rinsing--it makes my skin that soft. Without any irritation or dryness. Huge thumbs up from me. It has become a hero product for me and I've gone through multiple jars since I discovered it. Sadly it's not available in the US yet so I have to order it from Cult Beauty, Beauty Bay and Selfridges overseas.

I use it once a week as my weekly pick me up. Methylsulfonylmethane(MSM) is an interesting addition. I had never seen it in skincare until this mask, though I have since seen it emerging in other brands as well. It's not really common but is becoming more so. MSM is a sulfur compound found naturally in our bodies and some plants. You can take MSM as a supplement for joint health and it touts other uses and claims. It's also been talked about as the beauty mineral to help with anti-aging and skin health. It does this by supporting collagen production and health, as well as being anti-inflammatory. Read more HERE and HERE about MSM benefits.
