Deciem NIOD Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex: Review

I haven't gone and tested a whole lot of Deciem's other product lines beyond The Ordinary. I've grabbed a few items here and there from their other brands. I picked up NIOD's Multi Molecular Hyaluronic Complex last winter. I just got an email from Deciem that they are discontinuing this version and releasing a new MMHC2 which is a new and improved second version. Good news is that it stays the same price. As Deciem's site has already taken down the first versions details, I grabbed them from Lookfantastic:

Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex from NIOD (Non-Invasive Options in Dermal Science) combines twelve forms of hyaluronic compounds to plump and hydrate skin.

Hyaluronic Acid delivers multiple benefits to skin, including providing intense hydration, stimulating the production of collagen for a plumper appearance, working as an antioxidant to shield from free radical damage and preventing loss of elasticity. The acid supplies anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties to repair and replenish skin. Throughout the ageing process, levels of hyaluronic acid decrease, so this advanced serum absorbs quickly into skin to target fine lines and wrinkles, revealing a youthful-looking complexion. Experience visibly hydrated, comforted and smoother skin.

High molecular weight compounds such as Fermentation-Derived Hyaluronic Acid prevents moisture loss and increases short-term elasticity, whilst mid molecular weight Hyaluronic Complex offers short term hydration in the middle layers of the skin. Low molecular weight compounds penetrate into the deeper layers of skin to stimulate the body's own production of hyaluronic acid, whilst Enzyme-Reacted Glucosamine Amide HA Pre-Cursor (Rapid Reaction) increases fibroblast regeneration to boost elasticity.

Yeast Oligosaccharide HA Pre-Cursor (Long-Term Reaction) and Bio-Yeast HA Pre-Cursor (Moderate Term Reaction) provide a 90.5% increase in skin natural hyaluronan synthesis, which effectively improves the skin's moisture levels for a healthy-looking complexion. Formulated with a Novel HA Pre-Cursor Peptide Complex, the innovative serum strengthens the skin's structure, whilst its Mushroom-Derived Hyaluronic Complex is a fungi-derived equivalent of the body's natural hyaluronic which offers 400% more surface hydration.

This has a thin liquid texture, slightly thicker than water. It feels a tad bit slippery but only faintly. It absorbs really quickly, within a minute. So it's easy to layer. The color is almost clear, but it has a slight straw like tint. It has a very faint almost yeast like scent. It's nothing strong I barely noticed it. Otherwise it smells like nothing.

There are many hyaluronic acid serums and boosters out there. They are not all created equal. Some of them use larger molecules that just sit on the skin only coating the outside. The larger molecules cannot penetrate into the skin. Having 12 different versions(15 in the new MMHC2) of hyaluronic acid allows for a more complex hyaluronic acid serum and you're going to get multiple benefits from having different forms of hyaluronic acid. This is because you're using large and small hyaluronic acid molecules, plus hyaluronic acid from different sources.

This is a much more sophisticated version of The Ordinary's HA 2% (which is cheap, but you get what you pay for). The results you get from this NIOD version versus The Ordinary are better. I would recommend this one over The Ordinary.
