Sephora Play! March Subscription Box

So I decided to try the Sephora Play! subscription box again. I signed up for it some time ago, then quit after two boxes I think. I felt like it was a bunch of older things I either tried already or things that were 100 point samples. I was originally hoping it would have a bunch of new things coming out, not old typical samples.

For some background, I signed up for a ton of subscription boxes in 2014 and after a year or two of getting all the major ones I ended up with a ton of black eyeliners, dry shampoo and more perfume samples than I could use. Plus a bunch of other things I wasn't into. So I cancelled all of them but two-BeautyDNA and Olfactif. I love both of those and think about signing up again for BeautyDNA. I have more details on all of them on the subscription box page. So when you see me make comments on Sephora Play! in a sarcastic way it's because of that history.

Sephora Play! is $10/month and with tax comes out to $10.80. March's theme is The Gleam Team:

Inside is:

Benefit Watt's Up I will say this was one of those that I've gotten a million times, so goes in that 'gotten so many times before' categories. I'm not a big Benefit fan anymore, I used to be but it's like Too Faced and I just have a hard time finding something I like from them anymore. I'm sure some people will love getting it, if they have managed to not get one already in the past.

Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm I like this. I've tried two sample sachets so far. It's a thicker primer that blurs pores and moisturizes. It has a slight pink shimmer to it. While it does have silicone it doesn't break me out or feel really heavy. Of note I was excited thinking this was a large jar sample versus a sachet. However, see the pic below showing the tiny blob in a large sample pot. Not sure why the large pot for no reason? And it was totally sealed so no issues as far as dried out etc. Was everyone else's this way? I kind of laughed when I opened it wondering why not just a sachet since it seems like the same amount.

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Golden Pink I love Bobbi Brown. I have never used her stick eyeshadows as I'm not that much into cream shadows lately. This mini looked like the prefect size and shade for a warm rose gold inner corner eye highlight. So that's what I've been using it for.

GLAMGLOW GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer This is OK. It a thin lightly hydrating moisturizer that smells like slightly fruity vanilla cake. It's got a strong nude pearl with a golden sheen. I prefer Tata Harper's Illuminating Moisturizer for the ingredients and it's more hydrating.

Chloe Fleur de Parfum I haven't tried this yet. I'm really into niche perfume in general, but I have liked some Chloe ones in the past.

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast Not dry shampoo it's a volume and texture spray. I haven't used it yet. I do use Oribe but I'll try this one as well.

So, overall it was lackluster for my first box coming back. Old items like Watt's Up, token fragrance sample, almost dry shampoo but not quite, and a tiny sample in a large pot for no reason. However, I will try to remain open minded and keep testing Sephora Play! for the good of the beauty community. I really would love to see this box go towards a what's new or things that haven't come out yet direction. That would make this a killer subscription box.
