Dr.Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Milk Peel: Review

8:35:00 PM

I was looking for a new acid product and happened to come across Dr Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Milk Peel on Sephora and was intrigued enough to grab it. It's a double-layered peel that contains gentle acids to exfoliate and nourish skin without the risk of irritations. Details per Sephora:

Inspired by dermatological milk peel procedures popular in Asia, Dr.Jart developed Dermaclear™ Micro Milk Peel. It delivers gentle exfoliation without causing irritation to keep skin balanced and smooth in order to prep skin for the rest of your beauty regime. The double-layered formula is packed with both powerful exfoliating acids and nourishing ingredients to maintain balanced healthy skin. Lactic and salicylic acid support rewened suppleness for softer skin. Coconut milk, panthenol, squalene, and allantoin deliver a calming and hydrating feeling to the skin by forming a protective moisture barrier. Glutathione tones and brightens, leaving your skin feeling smooth and looking radiant.

As soon as I saw coconut milk and lactic acid I was sold. I will admit I didn't read carefully enough and thought this was an acid toner when I bought it. It's not a toner you leave on, you apply it then rinse it off.

Suggested Usage:

-Lightly shake the bottle and moisten cotton pad included.
-The gauze side is best normal-to-combination skin types while the smooth side is for sensitive skin.
-Using the side most suitable for your skin type, apply the product and allow keratin to dissolve for one minute before rinsing with lukewarm water.
-Use daily to provide instant smoothness and radiance for all skin.

It comes with gauze pads to apply. I'm not sure if the gauze pads last the entire bottle as I haven't finished it yet. The gauze pads have two sides-a textured side and softer side. The textured side was a bit rough for me even though I'm a normal skin type and not sensitive. I would just use my Shiseido cotton squares to apply if I ran out and it would be fine, I don't feel the gauze pads are necessary.

Onto the bottle. The bottle is a nice frosted glass bottle. You can see the dual liquid below, it's a milky hydrating coconut and the acid liquid. You shake for a hydrating acid. It's completely non-irritating for me. No burning, stinging or redness so it's mild. I experienced no issues while using this. No breakouts, or irritation. It feels hydrating on, then washes off with a splash of water. It leaves behind hydrated and exfoliated skin. My skin feels softer after using.

I don't use this everyday as it states you can. I do use an acid toner everyday. I like this as a quick pick me up to remove some icky skin debris. It's good in the morning to do a quick exfoliation and I can still follow with an acid toner with no irritation or redness. So it's hydrating and gentle. Those of you who like hard core exfoliants may find this too gentle. Those of you who like coconut and lactic acid(AHA/Alpha Hydroxy Acid), though this does contain Polyhydroxy Acids(PHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acids(BHA) as well, will like this. Lactic acid is more gentle than glycolic so it's easier to combine and use with other things.

This may not have been the coconut lactic acid toner I was originally looking for. However, it's a really nice mild liquid exfoliant. It's quick and easy to use. I can see myself repurchasing this.
