Sunday Riley Good Genes: Review

3:07:00 PM

I've gone through a good portion of Sunday Riley products. I've tried Good Genes many times but never reviewed it.

Details per Nordstrom:

What it is: A clarifying, line-smoothing lactic acid treatment.
Who it's for: All skin types and ages.
What it does: This treatment is formulated with high-potency, purified grade lactic acid that immediately exfoliates dull, pore-clogging dead skin cells, revealing smoother, fresher, younger-looking skin. Fine lines appear visually plumped while the skin looks more radiant and, with continued use, the appearance of stubborn hyperpigmentation and visible signs of aging are reduced for a healthier-looking complexion. Also enhanced with licorice for brightening, Good Genes clarifies, smoothes and retexturizes for instant radiance.
How to use: Apply one or two pumps to clean skin. Can be used daily or as a mask.
Pro tips: This treatment can be applied under your foundation as a radiance primer without any oiliness.

This is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid(AHA) product using lactic acid. I love lactic acid. It's more gentle than glycolic and the most pregnancy safe. AHAs are used for anti-aging, reducing wrinkles and evening the skin tone. Remember to wear sunscreen daily cause AHA can cause photo sensitivity.

The texture is like a light lotion. Honestly, it smells like strong cat pee. You get used to the scent, but the first time I smelled it I couldn't believe that was its scent. Needless to say the stuff works. Well. It smooths lines and wrinkles, it removes dead skin to reveal a brighter complexion. I used this at night as a daily serum exfoliant. I've tried it as a mask but I prefer it as a serum. It's pricey but it's good. I like the glass bottle with pump package, easy to dispense a little at a time. It does tingle a little and you might test it out first if you have sensitive skin. I would absolutely repurchase.
