Tom Ford Lips & Boys: Graham, Bradley, Evan: Review & Swatches

Tom Ford put out 25 new shades of Lips & Boys. I talked about some of them last year here and here. I grabbed three this year: Graham, Bradley & Evan. They seemed the most your lip but better nudes which is what I usually go for. This gave me one from each finish-Evan is matte, Bradley is satin and Graham is metallic.  The retail is $36 for what looks like a mini deluxe size lipstick. The price to size is comparable to the full priced lipstick. I prefer to grab the small one, as I rarely use a full sized one.

Per Sephora: "A clutch-sized lip color that's inspired by the men in Mr. Ford's life. To TOM FORD, there is no more dramatic accessory than a perfect lip. Each Lips & Boy Lip Color is a modern creation of an essential makeup shade. Infused with soja seed extract, Brazilian muru muru butter, and chamomilla flower oil, each lip color creates an ultra-creamy texture with incredibly smooth application. Showcased in a sleek clutch-sized case, this decadent wardrobe of rich, specially treated pigments are blended to deliver pure color in matte, cream, and metallic finishes.

TOM FORD unleashes 25 new boys to debut on your lips, alongside the 25 bestsellers you know and love. Named after men he admires—from intimates to collaborators from around the world—this first-of-its-kind collection introduces a modern matte finish for the very first time.

Designed to be worn on their own or layered with one another, each transforming color amplifies a woman’s individuality while inciting an insatiable desire to try more than one. From nuanced nudes like Bradley and Alexander, romantic roses like Richard and Douglas, to the unabashed boldness of Nicholas and Dominic, there’s a shade and boy for every mood."

L to R: Bradley, Evan, Graham:

The formulas are all fabulous. Luxe, lush, creamy and well pigmented. The matte is comfortable but not a creamy matte like some of the newer formulas, it's also nowhere near a dry matte. It has a good lasting power. The metallic is a creamy moisture shade but it's not a sheer shimmer. It's glossier than the satin shades and while not sheer it is less pigmented than the satins as well. The satin sades are the same creamy original formula. They're a great satin, creamy formula. Moisturizing and pigmented. Decent lasting power, but it's a creamy shade it won't last half a day without a touch-up.

My only beef with the Tom Ford Lips & Boys is the shades. Every year I look for a few that I think I would like, and every year the shades end up not being for me. All these shades looked pinker in swatches but once I got them could see they are all very nude.

Bradley looked like the perfect creamy pink nude, but it's a warm light peachy nude. While it has a very tiny amount of shimmer, it goes on like a creamy non shimmery nude. It won't wash you out, but it's too nude for me. I needed a hint of pink in it to be nude for me. I was most disappointed by Bradley as I really wanted it to have pink in it. If you like peachy nude without pink this is for you. Graham looked like a peachy nude shimmer, but it's a warm golden nude shimmer. I prefer Scandola actually to this one, Scandola is more sandy nude and less gold.

Evan looked like a pink neutral medium to light matte nude. It even swatches mauve or pink, but on the lips it's a cool medium taupe brown nude. No pink at all on my lips. It was unflattering to my skintone and not nearly as light as it looks in swatches so far. It's a fair amount deeper than my natural lips. I was looking for a nude matte similar to my lip tone, but this isn't it. Maybe for those of you with pigmented lips. This might look different of different lips.

While none of the colors were for me this year, again. The formulas are fabulous and if you can find a shade you like go for it. The tubes are so cute. I can see Bradley being a bit hit since it's a creamy true nude that won't wash you out.
