Tom Ford Moisturecore Lip Color Scandola, Carriacou: Review & Swatches

This review is long overdue. Tom Ford Summer 2016 collection released a new product called Moisturecore Lip Color. I grabbed Scandola and Carriacou. Per Sephora: "A luminous, lightweight lipstick with an innovative, moisturizing liquid core. Moisturecore Lip Color has a liquid core that's infused with passion fruit oil to provide lips with luxurious moisture in a pink pop of color. It’s infused with an exotic blend of melon fruit extract, murumuru butter, and plant-derived esters to condition lips, and a luminous lip color encases the center. Subtle flecks of golden pearl flatter bronzed, summer skin, and the shades range from sandy nude to rosy mauve, creating a soft veil of lightweight color that lasts for hours." The retail is $55. These have a slim rectangle case like the Lip Color Shines except with white and gold cases.

These remind me of Dolce & Gabbana's Passion Duo Gloss Fusion Lipsticks. I like these much better though. Dolce & Gabbana has a strong powdery perfume smell, Tom Ford has a pleasant vanilla scent. The Tom Ford Moisturecore formula outer core reminds me of the Tom Ford Lip Sheers. Feels the same texture and formula wise. Not really hydrating but not drying. The Tom Ford Lip Color Shines are glossier and more buttery, thicker feeling. They are the most moisturizing. These Moisturecore Lip Colors are thinner, sheer and more of a satin texture. The Moisturecore formula is a sheer formula but still has a moderate amount of pigment. It has a pleasant faint vanilla scent and is neither drying nor really hydrating.

Scandola is a light sheer shimmery golden nude. I thought this one would wash me out and be too pale and cool, but it's my favorite of the two. The inner core adds a bit of warmth to it. Plus it swatches warmer than it looks in the tube. It's sheer enough to not wash me out and be that pale nude that Tom Ford usually does. Carriacou is a light creamy pinky peach with a hint of shimmer. Both shades are warmer in tone and Scandola is the sheerest of the two. If you like sheer, slightly shimmery but not overpowering lipsticks, this is for you. Or if you like Tom Ford's Lip Sheer formula, like I do, but love the slimmer packaging than you'll love these.
