Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick Bad Blood: Review & Swatches

Urban Decay recently came out with a Matte version of their Revolution lipstick. The regular Revolution lipstick is very comfortable to wear and highly pigmented so I wanted to see what a matte finish in a red shade would be like.

Per Urban Decay's website: "Ditch that dry-feeling matte lipstick. With Matte Revolution Lipstick—our super-creamy, nondrying formula—your lips will look AND feel amazing. Finally, a matte lipstick you’ll love wearing. Matte Revolution Lipstick features our proprietary Pigment Infusion System™, which gives the formula its super-creamy texture, insane pigmentation and superior color dispersion. We also loaded Matte Revolution Lipstick with a long list of nourishing ingredients, including a blend of avocado, olive and babassu oils. Shea butter conditions; illipe butter (derived from Malaysian illipe trees) provides long-lasting moisture; and vitamin C and vitamin E provide a hit of antioxidants. We custom-designed the gorgeous component with organically shaped facets, and made the case pearlescent black (to set this matte version apart from our original and Sheer formulas). The trimline-style component supports the soft, creamy formula and prevents breakage, yet still provides full-lip coverage in a single swipe." The retail is $22.

I grabbed Bad Blood as it was the red shade most for me, described as "matte deep red". That's pretty true it's not really blue or orange based, more of a neutral deep red. It looks deeper in the tube than it applies, it applies brighter.

I found it very hydrating, comfortable, very pigmented with a semi-matte finish. It didn't have a really long lasting time because it is moisturizing, so if you love mattes for their lasting power you won't like this. If you hate dry mattes and don't care about lasting power you'll like this. In comparison to a similar style matte- Charlotte Tilbury's Matte Revolution, which is also a moisturizing matte, I prefer Charlotte Tilbury's formula which is a touch more matte in the finish and lasts longer without being drying.
