Charlotte Tilbury X Norman Parkinson Dreamy Glow Highlighter: Swatches & Review

The next item I have to go over from the Charlotte Tilbury X Norman Parkinson limited collection is the Dreamy Glow Highlighter Illuminating Youth Powder. This comes in a plastic rose gold metallic case with a Norman Parkinson photo under a thick, glossy plastic cover. It reminds me of those pendants or similar items where photos have that thick glossy cover over it.

Per Charlotte's website: "Capture the youthful, soft-focus light of Parkinson’s lens, encased in the dreamy glamour of vintage Hollywood. It is a soft, mood-lit Youth Highlighter that creates ‘peaches and cream’, dreamy skin. It’s the perfect blend of pearl and pigment to enhance your complexion, scattering light and opalescence across the features, transitioning skin from winter to golden summer in one easy swipe. With golden, mother-of-pearl tones, this highlighting youth powder uses light flex technology to capture light and radiate it out across the skin, for a dreamy soft-focus effect."

The compact is fairly large holding 0.42 oz of product and retails for $65. A Chanel highlighter compact has 0.21 oz and is usually more expensive, so it's well priced. The color is a shimmery peach with fine gold shimmer. In some lights it feels like it has a hint of pink to it, but it's really a shimmery peach with gold.

L to R: Charlotte Tilbury Moon Beach, Dreamy Glow Highlighter, Chanel Dentelle Precieuse:

I compared it with Charlotte Tilbury's Moon Beach Beach Stick and Chanel's Illuminating Powder in Dentelle Precieuse which were the only two items I had similar. I originally thought Moon Beach was really similar, a pink peach with gold shimmer, but it's darker and more pink. Blended in Moon Beach is the closest. Chanel's is more beige toned, more neutral to cool and has no gold shimmer.

Overall, the texture is smooth, very finely milled, almost buttery, and not powdery. It's pretty subtle once applied, yet you can layer it more for more shimmer or oomph, but a light pass adds a glow not lots of shimmer. This may be too dark for really light complexions, it's perfect for light-dark skin tones. Chanel's Dentelle Precieuse is a bit more like my skin tone, the Dreamy Glow Highlighter is a touch brighter on my light-medium skin tone. I love the shade, I don't have anything quite like it and it's a great texture. The price is pretty good too in comparison to others for the amount you get. The packaging is OK, I am never one to care for fancy packaging that costs extra, but that's just me. I want what's inside to be great. The product in this one is great. I think some will love the special packaging, and some who already don't like Charlotte's plastic packaging might dislike it.

  1. I ordered this yesterday because I was in awe of the limited edition packaging, but now I'm worried it will be too deep for my complexion. Oh well, it's still a lovely powder! Great, in depth review!

    1. Thanks. Hope it works for you. I think it will just depend what you prefer in a highlighter. Are you really fair?
